Hi, Everyone!
Here's a way to kick the winter blues: Our Winter EditionCabaret workshop classes with the talented Jaunelle Celaire will be held evenings M-F, January 28-February 1 with the performance at 7:30pm Saturday, February 2 at the beautiful Northern Latitudes Room in the Westmark. The classes are held in our home, 2757 College Road, across from the Farmer's Market. You have your choice of attending classes from 5:30-7:3pm OR from 8:00-10pm. There are no auditions and the winter classes are open to singers ages 16 and older. If you like to sing and you've never had this opportunity before - think about registering. You'll find a nurturing atmosphere under Jaunelle's direction. CLICK HERE for the Registration Form and the cost.
A PERSONAL NOTE TO TEACHERS -- UAF CREDIT AVAILABLE! As a long-time educator, I remember trying to find summer school classes at Universities around the country to renew my certificate. I wanted inspirational and interesting classes which would help me become a better teacher! That's why I've had fun putting this Festival together - our classes are inspirational and interesting!
Thanks to our partnership with UAF, the Festival is your opportunity to take some great classes (approved for re-certification) without writing papers and taking tests! It's Pass/Fail based on attendance. We offer some 595 and 695 level classes as well as lower level classes.
You may select from any of our classes listed for UAF credit. We have left our past year's catalog on line. Look for the page that tells about UAF Credit to see what had been offered the previous year. (Our new catalog comes out about the last week of March each year.) For clarification, hours for Applied Music can include any of the music classes listed that you'd want to take. Same for the Applied Art classes.
Please remember: To obtain UAF credit, you must first register and pay for the Festival classes and then get in touch with UAF Summer Sessions to register for UAF credit. The costs for our Festival classes are minimal compared to other summer classes I've seen around the country. You might wonder why you have to pay the Festival as well as Summer Sessions: The Festival pays for all the guests' honoraria, housing and travel (where applicable) so the registration fee you pay the Festival helps cover those expenses. You pay a fee to Summer Sessions to help them cover their administrative costs in offering our classes for credit. If there is a financial concern in paying both the Festival and Summer Sessions, please contact me: festival@alaska.net
We are working on compiling all information for our 2008 catalog! I'm hoping to have it ready for Kade to put on line by the 2nd week of March and the hard copies should be ready by the last week of March. If you want to receive a hard copy, please send me an email with your request.
