2010 Festival Guest Artists by Department
Descriptions of the Festival departments follows:
Strings, Woodwinds and Brass: Our classical studies include chamber music ensembles, master classes, sectionals, and large ensembles (orchestra and wind ensemble) as well as opportunities for private lessons. We offer master classes and combos in jazz studies as well as Jazz Band rehearsals in preparation for concerts.
Classical and World Percussion: There are beginning to advanced studies available in steel drums, world beat drumming, Dance with Drums, and Latin Jazz Ensemble. There are opportunities for people who don't read music, and there are performance opportunities for both beginners and advanced students.
Classical Voice and Choral Groups: We offer beginning and intermediate singing workshops which appeal to those who have never had formal training. We also offer four vocal ensembles: Women's Vocal Ensemble, Men's Vocal Ensemble, and Chamber Chorale (select group by audition).
Cabaret: Anyone interested in developing this style of singing is welcome and there are performance opportunities. There is no audition but you do need to bring music for the piece you've prepared.
Opera and Musical Theatre: There are opportunities for lead soloists (by audition) with considerable performance experience as well as for those singers who have had very little training but enjoy singing and wish to be in the Opera Chorus.
Shakespeare and Theatre: These classes are offered for people interested in studying Shakespeare as an actor, director, or scholar. These are not performance classes, so don't be fearful of being on stage.
Creative Writing: A day-long class both weeks with talented guest artists who are sure to lead the would-be writer on the right track for success.
Healing Arts: Some great classes in Tai Chi as well as Balance and Yoga—teaching you how to better your posture for better health. We also offer inner-healing meditation.
Ice Skating: These classes are primarily geared to our youth of any age, although there are some beginning adult classes.
Dance: Ours is a study-performance for adults, teens, and even children as young as 12 years old. There are enriching hour-long classes that anyone may enrole in, and full-day core classes for serious dance students.
Visual Arts: Included are classes in water color, drawing, and mixed media.
