Jeff Busch
Drums
Jeff Busch is an exuberant drummer/percussionist, vocalist, and composer who has been active on the Seattle jazz, gospel, and Latin jazz scenes for the past 12 years. He is a member of the Jovino Santos Neto Quinteto, and performed on the group's first grammy nominated album ‘Canto do Rio.’ He also drums for Carlos Cascante y su Tumbao, Sambatuque, Patrinell Wright & the Total Experience Gospel Choir and First AME Church. In 2006, Jeff's original jazz composition, ‘The Struggle’ from his album ‘Song for the Ninth Ward’ was selected as a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition's jazz category.
Tim Carey
Jazz Bass
Tim Carey is an instrumentalist, composer, and music teacher from Seattle. He holds an Olympic College AAS degree in Bremerton WA, as well as a BM in Jazz bass performance from Cornish College of the Arts. As a performer and clinician, Tim has traveled world-wide giving concerts and jazz workshops in colleges and high schools. Tim specializes in electric and acoustic bass, guitar pedagogy, music theory, and western music history.
Diamond Fuller
Drums
A life-time resident of Fairbanks, Diamond grew up playing tenor saxophone and switched to drums in his teens. Now a consummate jazz-drummer, Diamond has worked with Larry Ham, Greg Hopkins, and Barney McClure.
Mark Ivester
Drums
Mark Ivester is a consummate drummer and is experienced in many different idioms from pop-rock to big band to jazz, Latin jazz and orchestral settings. He has worked with well-known jazz luminaries and his versatility is demonstrated on a wide range of recordings. He is currently on the faculty of the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA and the Olympic College in Bremerton, WA.
Barney McClure
Jazz Piano
In Europe during the sixties, Barney McClure discovered his passion for piano in the Army and he continued playing in Hollywood for many years. His performances have taken him world-wide and his music can he heard in the movies An Officer and a Gentleman, and the soundtrack of Mr. Hollands Opus. Barney has taught jazz piano to young and old alike and he performs in his own local jazz band.
Jovino Santos Neto
Jazz Piano
Jovino Santos Neto is a master pianist, composer, arranger, flutist, and multi-instrumental specialist. He is a three-time Latin Grammy award nominee and has received commissions by a number of mission organizations. Jovino won a Golden Ear Award as the Best Jazz Instrumentalist and made various recordings with popular artists such as mandolinist Mike Marshall. He created the CD “Roda Carioca (Rio Circle)” with a Brazilian All-Star lineup and teaches piano at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.
Harvey Wainapel
Saxophone
Saxophonist/clarinetist Harvey Wainapel (pronounced “wine-apple”) has performed with McCoy Tyner, Joe Lovano, Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, and Joe Henderson. His expertise in Brazilian music has led to performances and recordings with Airto Moriera, Flora Purim, Guinga, and Paulo Bellinati. After spending many years on the Jazz faculty at Sonoma State University and the Stanford Jazz Workshop, Harvey currently continues touring and giving seminars around the world, having performed in 22 countries.
Dirk Westfall
Jazz Bass
Dirk spent twenty-four years with the Navy and Air Force jazz bands. He is now a Free-lance musician and photographer living in Anchorage. Dirk has performed with The Four Freshmen, Carl Fontana, Bobby Shew, Marvin Stamm, Barney McClure, and others.
