TEACHERS: Here’s an opportunity to broaden your personal development while earning credits for re-certification!

HOW TO OBTAIN CREDIT:
1. Complete Festival registration first and pay that registration fee. Use the
registration form
in the Festival catalog or download it at here.
Mail the completed form and payment to the Fairbanks Summer
Arts Festival, P.O Box 82510, Fairbanks, AK 99708

2. Register and pay for UAF Summer Sessions Credit on line at
www.uaf.edu/summer. For additional Summer Sessions information
phone 907-474-7021 or e-mail summer@uaf.edu

3. All registrations and payments must be received by 5 pm, Monday, July 14.

4. Registrants are encouraged to attend the Festival Orientation, “Meet the
Artists
,” Sunday, July 13 at 3pm and pick up the Class Attendance
Verification Form from the Festival Office that day.

5. Applied Art, Music and Dance students must document hours spent in
workshops, rehearsals, studio and performance throughout the
festival by having instructors sign the Class Attendance Verification Form each day. Pass/Fail grading depends on attendance. This form is
available from the Festival office or from Summer Sessions. This signed
form must be taken to the Festival Office by Friday afternoon, July
25, or sent directly to UAF Summer Sessions postmarked by August 1,
UAF Summer Sessions, PO Box 757540, Fairbanks, AK
99775.

ART/ED F595P FSAF: Applied Art
Instructor: Festival Staff, Two credits, Fee: $90
Opportunity to study with guest instructors in a variety of art disciplines. Requires 54 documented hours of classroom lecture and
studio visual art activities, and participation in the exhibition of work created in these classes.

ED F595P FSAF: Shakespeare for H. S. Teachers and Drama Coaches
Instructors: Kremer and Stitham, One credit, Fee: $90
This class will examine Shakespeare’s most popular plays in terms of literary analysis and directorial techniques. Valuable ideas for people working with all levels of students will be presented by Kremer and Stitham who have years of experience in directing and teaching Shakespeare.  Non-teaching lovers of Shakespeare are welcome.

ED F595P FSAF: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Shakespeare
Instructor: Kremer, One credit, Fee: $90
If you’ve always wished you understood more about the Bard, this class is for you.  Anyone interested in Shakespeare will enjoy, but the class is designed especially for beginners. Kremer will offer a practical approach to the plays, including exercises that are fun and will clarify the text.

ED F595P FSAF: Shakespeare From the Director’s Chair
Instructor: Kremer, One credit, Fee: $90
The class will look closely at King Lear and Twelfth Night, using DVDs to highlight scenes from various productions to consider why certain choices have been made. Registrants need nothing other than enthusiasm to register for this class. They may simply watch and listen if they wish.

ED/MUS F595P FSAF: Applied Music
Instructor: Festival Staff, Two credits, Fee: $90
Prerequisite: Three months of private instruction or permission of iInstructor: Staff Opportunity to study with guest instructors in a variety of musical disciplines. Requires 54 documented hours of workshop, rehearsal, and performance participation.

ENGL F195P/F495P/F695P FSAF: Creative Writing
Instructor: Shumaker, Two Credits, Fee: F195P, $60; F495P, $90; F695P, $170.
Study and writing of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Focus on generating new writing with practice in several stages of the writing process. Each day contains directed writing activities; close readings of literature from writerly perspective and discussions of topics vital to writing. Instructor permission required for ENGL 695.
