For Out-of-Town Registrants and Visitors

Out-of-town registrants may wish to combine a vacation to the Interior with Festival plans. For travel information to the Fairbanks area, contact Sue Selzer at USTravel, phone at 907-374-5336, 1-800-622-6449, or fax at 907-452-3839, or email at sue.selzer@ustravel.us

Fairbanks can be reached by scheduled air carriers several times a day. We, at the Festival, greatly appreciate the generous support of Alaska Airlines over the past 25 years. A flight into Anchorage, then the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Fairbanks, would provide incredible scenic views, and an opportunity to stop and spend a day on a wildlife tour into Denali Park.

Plan on at least 5 days from Seattle if driving the Alaska Highway. You will be viewing some of the most beautiful and rugged wilderness on earth through British Columbia and the Yukon. Another option is to drive your vehicle aboard the Alaska State Ferry in Bellingham, Washington, then cruise through the Inside Passage to Haines or Skagway. Make these reservations early. From there, continue on your own, about two days driving, to Fairbanks. Guidebooks such as The Milepost are very helpful in traveling the highways.

July in the Interior is generally sunny with temperatures from 60 to 75 degrees. If you plan for rain, and dress in layers, you should be prepared for a Fairbanks summer. Warmer clothes are a must for Denali Park and coastal areas. Our Update Newsletter — sent to registrants — will also have information on what to bring.

For visitor information about the Interior, including accommodations and sightseeing, we recommend contacting the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau by phone at 800-327-5774, by fax at 907-452-2867, or logging on to their website at www.explorefairbanks.com
