Hi, Everyone!
We will be ready when the Festival opens three weeks from now!
Thanks to Kade, our website designer, for noting all 'filled' classes in RED on our on-line registration form. But there are still many classes available during the two weeks. Look at all your options.
Remember that you can register a` la carte, selecting those classes you want and paying by the class.
If you want many classes, remember that you can pay only $495 (if paid by check) for as many classes as you wish -- even though they might total $600 or more. (If you pay by VISA, the fee is $550 for as many classes as you wish to take. Some of you were surprised when I let you know that the Festival pays a merchant fee to give you the opportunity to charge your classes. We are working hard to keep our reg fees and concert tickets as low as possible, so that's why we ask you pay by check if possible.)
We regret that due to illness, visual artist Karlyn Holman is not able to be with us this year as planned. We hope to have her return another year. Fortunately, local artist Vladimir Zhikhartsev is available to teach that watercolor class. That class is filled.
I'm sure many of you have already heard that former Fairbanksan Terese Kaptur is the Festival's incoming Executive Director. I'll be retiring after 30 seasons at the close of this year's Festival. Though I'm feeling fine at age 80, I believe it's time for me to pass the baton so if Terese needs some help this coming year, I'll be available.
Terese returns to Fairbanks after being Executive Director at the Fort Collins Symphony, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Basically Bach Festival in Anchorage. Terese served as an arts management consultant, artist manager, and held positions with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Winston-Salem Symphony. She is passionate about education and community engagement, and advancing each person’s potential in the arts. A composer and pianist, Terese holds a Masters in music theory/composition from the UAF. We are fortunate to have her return as the Fstival's incoming Executive Director. She had been the Executive Director of the Fairbanks Symphony in the late 1970s. She had been wanting to return so this is good for all of us!
That's about it for now. Thanks for telling your friends about the Festival! We hope to see you in three weeks! Contact us if you have questions!
Cheers, Jo Ryman Scott, Founder and Executive Director Erin Poland, Administrative Assistant Judy Robertson Divinyi, Business Manager
