Description

The Art of Conducting....Are you conducting a student group and wishing you had a bit more technique and understanding of the art of conducting? Are you a student conductor who is looking for an opportunity to engage with a professional orchestra? Then this workshop is for you! The Art of Conducting is designed to help practicing conductors develop technique, gain experience conducting a professional ensemble, and connect with their core artist. Through movement exercises, meditation, conducting lessons, and rehearsal/performances with a professional orchestra students will work towards deepening their awareness of their conducting skills and creating more powerful connections with music.
Deadline for applications is April 17, 2017

This program includes private lessons, group movement classes, guided rehearsals and a final performance. This program provides an excellent opportunity to engage with your inner artist and take your abilities to the next level.

A second week of continued lessons and cover conducting with the festival orchestra and dance program is also possible. Playing opportunities in the FSAF festival orchestra are also available during the second week.

"I just wanted to take a minute and send you a huge pile of THANK YOU's for your help last summer! I just came off of a run of 5 Youth concerts with my orchestra, with a combined attendance of over 4,000 students, in 3 different cities.
It was a total blast, and your advice about how to structure these types of concerts paid off big time--some of our best Youth concerts ever! Your encouragement and advice about my conducting gestures/etc have really helped my endurance to increase, so I had no pain or soreness or anything after a full week of conducting...and that was great!
