Conductor Robert Franz (Music Director Windsor Symphony Orchestra and Associate Conductor Houston Symphony), leads the workshop:

The Art of Conducting. This workshop is designed to help practicing conductors develop technique, gain experience conducting a professional ensemble, and connect with their core artist. Through movement exercises, conducting lessons, and rehearsal/performances with a professional orchestra conducting fellows will work towards deepening awareness and creating more powerful connections with music. Podium time averages 1+ hours/day and is limited to up to 4 active fellows!

This program includes private lessons, guided rehearsals and 2 final performances shared by all 4 fellows. (One Concerto program and one Orchestral program). A second week of continued lessons and cover conducting with the festival orchestra is optional (July 22-28, 2018). Playing opportunities in the FSAF festival orchestra are also available during the second week.

Housing at UAF included. If housing is not needed, please contact the office for a discounted rate.
