Watercolors Wonders: The Magic of Alaska (Youth)

Dive into the magic of an Alaskan summer through watercolor! This 5-day course is perfect for young artists ages 9–16 who want to explore the beauty, mystery, and wildlife of Alaska—one brushstroke at a time.

Each day, students will paint their way through iconic Alaskan scenes, from towering trees and colorful skies to majestic wildlife and icy glacier landscapes. We’ll learn foundational watercolor skills, explore creative techniques, and bring the vibrant spirit of Alaska to life on paper!

Course Themes by Day:

Day 1 – Watercolor Basics & Water-cycle Magic
Discover watercolor fundamentals, color mixing, and brush techniques. We'll explore fun, experimental textures and dive into the "Water-cycle" to see how water shapes both nature—and our art!

Day 2 – Painting Nature: Flowers, Trees & the Alaska Sky
Capture the bold colors and soft beauty of Alaskan wildflowers, birch trees, and those unforgettable summer skies that stretch for miles.

Day 3 – Birds of Alaska: Featuring the Sandhill Crane
Celebrate the elegant motion and personality of Alaska's birds with a special focus on the graceful Sandhill Crane. Learn how to paint feathers, form, and movement.

Day 4 – Alaska Grizzly Bears & Fish
Bring powerful grizzly bears and shimmering salmon to life with expressive brushwork and layered textures. It’s a wild Alaskan river scene like no other!

Day 5 – Columbia Glacier, Icebergs, Whale Tails & Mountain Magic
Wrap up the week with an epic final composition featuring floating icebergs, distant mountains, the majestic Columbia Glacier—and the splash of a whale’s tail.

At the end of the week, students will showcase their artwork in a mini-gallery for family and friends!
