Watercolor I

I will provide you with an introduction into the materials and many of the techniques used with traditional watercolor. If you have never painted, or just painted a little on your own, this is a perfect class to gain some good basic skills. We will learn about the use of color, composition, how to render reflections and shadows, atmospheric perspective and the proper use of the brush...and most of all...we will have fun doing it!

Materials:

Paints...I use M. Graham Watercolor Paints and you are welcome to bring your own.

Azo Yellow

Cobalt Blue

Napthol Red

Paynes Gray

Transparent Iron Red Oxide

Brushes You can bring your own brushes...Please use good brushes...synthetic or hair.

Rounds: Sizes# 6, #8 or #10, #12 or #14

Other Supplies

Large Covered Palette for the paints

A stiff cardboard or Gatorboard board to support the paper. It needs to be able to staple into.

1 sheet of Arches 140lb Cold Press cut into 8"x10" sheets...you should end up with 6 sheets of 8"x10"s and 3 sheets 6"x10"s

4B Pencil

Kneaded Eraser

Razor or Exacto Knife

Masking tape

Swing Arm Stapler

Hair Dryer

Paper Towels
