Irish Flute

Irish Flute

Location: UCPC Fellowship Hall

Introduction to traditional Irish music for the silver flute and the simple-system wooden (or plastic) flute. Jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas, waltzes, and airs. Topics will include fingering; ornamentation including cuts, strikes, slides, and rolls; musical breathing; and tonguing and throating. Tin Whistle

Tin Whistle

The tin whistle, also called the penny whistle, has been a mainstay in traditional Irish music since the 19th Century. This class is an introduction to the whistle and its music: jigs, reels, hornpipes, airs, and more. Fingering, ornamentation, musical breathing, tonguing and throating will be discussed.
