John Clodfelter (OMT)

John Clodfelter is Assistant Professor of Piano at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota
where, in addition to teaching all keyboard related courses, he teaches Music History and Music in Film.

While he began studies in piano performance as an Undergraduate, he discovered a love for collaborative piano, specifically working with classically trained singers. This was further nurtured in his studies at Indiana University. From 1996-2015, John worked at DePauw University as a staff accompanist and vocal coach. In the summer of 2005, he received a grant to study in Vienna, Austria, where he worked with Walter Moore and Carolyne Hague at the Univerität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst.

Clodfelter's teachers include Dr. Lorna Griffitt, Evelyne Brancart and Hans Graff in piano-performance. His teachers in collaborative piano include Leonard Hokanson, Rostislav Dubinsky, and Dr. Nariaki Sugiura. In 2017, he completed a master’s degree at the University of North Dakota. Clodfelter is most passionate about German and French Art-Song literature. This passion has resulted in performance collaborations with singers Pamela Coburn and Thomas Cooley as well as playing in masterclasses under Thomas Hampson, Elly Ameling, Jake Heggie, Richard Hundley, John Corigliano, and George Crumb.
